I heard cow's....I hope they weren't inside burning to death. Plus I like
my steaks medium-rare not well done.

Maybe its smoke from something burning outside of the barn? Just a
guess

Looks like it is something that has burned (paper?) and is now ashes. A
backdraft sucks in a large volume of air before the explosion so it was
just riding the current of air into the barn.

It's smoke being blown out by the force of the explosion.....oooor.... the
souls of the dead cows.
