Posted by: thelonius21 on Feb 11, 2007 @ 12:24:22 pm reality1 to get the change they wanted there would have to be personal inconveniences. your tearjerking "what if" examples would be the normal sacrifices of any kind of revolution. think of all the tickets that could be spared the pen because the current listed speed limit is obviously unsafe. and with the money saved on fines the driver could buy a watch and leave his house with enough time to allow him to get to his job interview on time without having to break the law. for once in his life. Posted by: rue247 on Feb 11, 2007 @ 01:09:09 pm if you take the autobahn for example, there is technically no speed limit and there has been very few deaths on that road, because of the fact you can go at such great speeds. Also while speeding you have a tendency to concentrate more on your driving and the handling of your car. The only reason why you see fatal accidents with over the limit speeds, is because the people who are doing the speed limit and are multi-tasking or just feel more realxed because of going slower or the speed limit dont have as much concentration on the road...example a person all the way in the left lane doing the speed limit, when it is considered the "fast lane".... i mean there is a reseaon why they call it that, is there a fast and a slow 65 mph? cause xxxx i need to take the test again...if someone is in the left lane and you see that he is coming up behind fast, you move over to the "slower" lane... not a hard concept...when you stay in the left lane being an ass and saying "well xxxx it, he shouldnt be going that fast anyways" you actually cause that person to change lanes a lot and cause a higher risk of accidents....to sum it up, people need to have courtesy on the road...its that simple...and to make one more thing clear i am talking about people who do 10 sometimes 15 over...i cant say so for myself..haha Quote | Post New

Especially the person who said - what if this stunt made someone late for a meeting or lost them a client etc - NUTTER! We ALL carry out acts EVERY DAY that affect EVERYONE around us!!!! Attributing this one act to the downfall of people lives is madness! Secondly, driving at a moderate speed is MORE fuel efficient than speeding along at 80+. By driving at the speed limit and breaking in time and not racing away at the lights I have increased my fuel efficiency by at least 25%. Carbon foot print that - Fool! Quote | Post New

And its gone for a long-ass time. Drivers Ed in Germany lasts months, ending with not only a meticulous driving test but a test that is about 1000 questions long. And, drivers in Germany are required to carry emergency kits in their trunks for anything from a flat tire to a medical emergency. Accidents involving pedestrians are entirely the fault of the driver, no matter what the circumstance. They dont want to lose their licenses. That is why there are so few wrecks in Germany.
