it's not the bigger ones that are deadly, it's the little ones that are more venomous

you know the ones that are in your shoes and crawl in your mouth when your sleeping :)

Dunno if it's horse shit or not...but I've heard people say that daddy long legs are one of the most poisonous spiders. They just don't have the proper equipment (teeth) to deliver the venom.

a "daddy long legs" itself is not a spider and is a harvestman, otherwise known as "Opiliones". Of course the name daddy long legs can also refer to the crane fly or the celler spider, but more often than not its in a reference to the harvestman.

Anywho... here's something from the glorious wikipedia

There is an urban legend claiming that the harvestman is the most venomous spider in the world, only its fangs are too small to bite a human, and is thus not actually dangerous. This is untrue on several counts (see also cellar spider). First, of course, phalangids are not spiders. None of the known species have venom glands. The size of the jaws varies by species, of course, but even those with relatively large jaws virtually never bite humans (or other large creatures), not even in self-defense. The few known cases of actual bites did not involve envenomation, and had no lasting effects.

I work in crawlspaces alot I see alot of spiders, have you heard of a recluse, when they bite you they lay eggs, and sometimes surgery is needed, I have been told this so I dont know how factual it is. Is factual even a word LOL

They don't lay eggs when they bite. The prblem with a recluse bite is that it can cause necrosis of tissue around the bite area and sometimes, in rare cases, lead to organ damage as a result.

This is an untreated brown recluse bite.

The venom can cause severe muscle damage if left untreated.

yep those are the bastards that worry me shannon, I got bit the other day, my wrist got the size of my bicep. It wasnt a recluse but I almost made a sissy noise like bonobo would have. Is it true they only bite at night or when you are in theyre area?

From what I've read they only bite if they are pressed against the skin. Usually it happens when someone is putting on an item of clothing that the spider is hiding in or when someone is moving boxes, rummaging in a dark closet or underneath the bed. They don't bite if you just walk by them or anything. They're not aggessive. Also, their bites are relatively painless. That's another problem...you don't know that you've been bitten until it's pretty obvious by the wound.

Don't worry yourself too much, though. If you get bit, and you're concerned just see a doctor. They'll probably give you steroids to make the healing process faster.
