* This was painted by a person with a rare and severe mental disorder. He was constantly seeing his own fantasies all around him. He also had a certain phobia (undisclosed).
* His (the poster’s) psychiatry professor showed this painting in a lecture, and said there was one tell-tale sign in it that showed the painter’s insanity.
* The professor didn’t say what that sign was, leaving the students to do the guesswork. The only clues he gave was, “don’t look for small details, look at the whole; if you figure out what the phobia was, you’ve got the answer; ask yourself what could have preceded this scene; think of what the place would look like with all the objects removed“.
* The professor said that during the 15 years of his teaching, only one student had figured it out.
More here (http://forum.ebaumsworld.com/showthread.php?t=173658). I am confused.

this is horse shit. if you read through all the crap about the picture, it says that it's probably a hoax and even if it isn't we have no way of finding out the answer. FUCK! i'm gonna go cut myself until i figure out the answer.

Everything is in groups of 2 or 3...

Anyone who'd waste their time painting pictures of stupid horses has to be crazy in the first place.

Damn there's a lot of possibilities..my guess is he fears something like emptyness or silence.

Wouldnt that go with being left alone AK? Kind of.

This is pretty wierd and only two people know the answer. And the line in the middle looks significant but it's only said to be from scanning it. And the clues don't seem to add up, this could be a hoax. But the answer is he's afraid of riddles.

A little, but a phobia of being alone seems to obvious...I mean it says only one guy has gotten it right.

We will all go to our graves never knowing the answer for sure. But S&D may have a point. In the article it says that the teacher said to remove everything from the picture, Thus no more riddle and no Phobia! A Hoax.

well the professor supposedly said that fear of empty spaces is "close."

but yeah, i think it's a hoax. at least i'm going to tell myself that because the thought of thinking of this and never getting an answer is making me want to :hangself: ... oh waiiiit....
