I think today it is safe to say that the Sport of boxing is R.I.P. and that the sport of ultimate fighting has taken its place.

The show 'The contender' did ok on ratings, but today there are no true boxers left in the game and no 'rising' stars to carry the sport on their shoulders. However UFC, Pride fighting, K1 etc. have all grown year after year recently and show no signs of stopping.

The flame on the torch known as boxing has died out...for now.

I agree I used to love boxing, now it is a bunch of nobodys from nowhere not at all like when I was a kid.

Dude wtf are you talking about? Do you know any recent rookies? Andrew Jackson is like the "Lebron James" of Basketball, He's nearly already smashed all of Tyson's records.

That's not my point, sure there are always gonna be some good boxers but the sport overall is fading. Do you not get it?

And any way that's only one example it would take a lot more than that to save an entire sport...

Boxing is still awesome...but UFC, Pride, K1 & all the other organizations are definitely taking off.

It's tough to watch Morales vs Pacquiao 3 and say "boxing is dead". That place (and the fight) was electric! Same for Klitscho & Brock.

I mean, yeah your right, it is fading, not much about boxing on ESPN, or any sport's channel for that matter...

But the sport still lives very strong, It's just UFC/K1 Karate/Pride, is starting to bring in way bigger crowd's, which gives them funding to air their shit on T.V. Boxing just isn't making good commission ever since full-contact fighting has hit the Air...So it's still there as live as it ever was, it's just UFC/Pride are taking over the important channel's on Extended/Basic cable.

You need digital cable with the channel's that go in the 100's to watch some GOOD boxing.

Yes i agree but before, just about all boxing that was on was good. And it was clear which sport was more watched and better.
